April News

Executive News
I have to start with big THANK YOU s  for the info that actually made it to the paper this week.  Hilda wrote a great thank you letter which I send in its entirerty to the editor.  He then butchered it but better than nothing. Thank you Hilda for writing a great letter.  The picture was great!  Thank you Karen for organizing the picture and getting it to the Gazette.  And also thankyou to all the participants in the photo, you looked great!
We have a couple of extra events coming up.  On Monday April 4th we are going to have a 'hanging' party.  Hopefully I will not be the one being hung but the design walls will be, with the help of all who can come.
Also, there is a open house for the FOFA building for Arts and Culture week.  Our obligation is to have some people doing 'stuff'  at the building on April 12th, Tuesday, but in the afternoon from 1-4pm.  We can be there all day but for sure in the afternoon as that is when the open house is scheduled.  So bring your projects and join us.  We have a meeting that evening so it will be a full day.  Hope to see you there.
Do you have your thinking caps on about our wind-up meeting and what you want to do for our wind-up meeting?
Any new gadgets, books or ??? to report on to your fellow quilter?  Is your mystery quilt finished for show and tell, they should all be there????  ( I better get to work!)

Hilda's Article as it was submitted...
On behalf of the Grand Forks Sunshine Quilters Guild, we would like to thank the Regional District for providing the fibre artists in our community with a home.  This building which we share with the Woodworkers Guild has been enjoying a new facelift with the members of the various fibre groups joining forces and turning this unused portion of the building into our new clubhouse.  The ladies including  help of a few gentlemen, namely husbands have put in a lot of time cleaning, painting, installing cupboards and laying flooring.

This building will be named  The Focus on Fibre Building and will be utilized with great frequency  by many people who's talents include quilting, spinning, weaving, knitting, rug hooking.  The grant that we have received is being used for the finishing of the flooring, window blinds, signage and insulation of the existing garage door and is much appreciated.

It is because of the foresight of a few people with a good idea that there are in excess of  100 people utilizing this clubhouse and when the word spreads of its availability for the fibre arts, we are sure that there will be many more interested people.

Once again we say “Thank You” to our community for caring and making this possible.  We are truly grateful.  You have given us a home and in turn we will be able to return the favour through our money raising efforts to help our community. We provide an annual bursary to the high school, contripute annually to the Christmas hamper fund and every two years we make a raffle quilt with all the proceeds going to a local charity. Let us not forget "What Goes Around, Comes Around".
