September News

Executive News

Another new season already! Didn't we just have a quilt show or something??
Welcome back everybody, and an advance welcome to new members. It's going to be a full, fun year. We even have new-to-quilting folks joining us so we'll be a Guild in the true meaning of the word - passing on our skills and knowledge to those wishing to learn. Plans are under way for the retreats, teaching beginners, in-guilds, short clinics, open houses, etc.
Our first business meeting is going to be a busy one! Here's a sort-of agenda for you:
- welcome addresss by the president (oh, that would be me! I'll keep it short)
- introduction of members
- thought box introduction
- September in-guild
- membership payments/issuing member cards
- retreat registration
- writing thank you cards re the quilt show
- filling in a short questionnaire
- filling vacant volunteer positions (please be prepared to volunteer for something)
- treasurer's and secretary's reports
- committee reports
- show and tell
- there will be a door prize or two (yay, we all love a prize!)
and anything else that falls into my brain or you offer up by Sept 13 - I'm at 442-8493.
Evelyn will be bringing a snack and I'll be putting the coffee and tea on.
Two big items will be held over until the October business meeting - our 2-year budget (it has to wait until October as we are in the process of dealing with the quillt show money ins-and-outs) and a discussion around the quilt show, raffle quilts, fundraising, etc. Put your thinking caps on now though ... don't wait until the meeting in October to start thinking about these things or we'll be there a week.
I'm very excited about the coming year. I hope you will be too. Bring your ideas and suggestions - it's your Guild!

Business Meeting - Sept 13, 2011 7 pm
In-Guild Day - Sept 27, 2011 9 am

September In-Guild
September's in-guild, on Sept 27th,  is a patternless random-scrap crazy quilt block. All you need to bring is your sewing machine, etc., and lunch. We have a huge assortment of scraps to use so there's no need to bring your own. Enough new muslin for the base of the blocks for two or three 12" blocks per person will be provided by the guild. These blocks are quick and easy (and can be made in any size you want) so if you think you may want to make a bunch please bring along some more muslin in case the guild's supply runs dry. Sample blocks and a quilt top will be shown at the September business meeting.

Caba's Quilting Cottage
